Sector 3

ODOT Director

Craig Johnston

Transportation Maintenance Specialist
Oregon Dept. of Transportation

Being a member of the 2014 Flying Squadron gave Craig a new perspective on what it means to be part of a Union. The connection he felt with other members of rural Oregon and throughout the state in support of the bargaining campaign gave a true sense of what’s it’s like to be “in it together.”

Successfully lobbying to stop the Hwy 219 pilot project was one of Craig’s proudest achievements as part of SEIU 503. He and other ODOT members organized and successfully lobbied legislators, proving the project would cost taxpayers four times more to contract out than to do the work “in house.”

Turkey hunting in the Roseburg area and camping are two of Craig’s favorite things to do, as well as traveling around our beautiful state.
