What can I do in my union?

There are many opportunities to be involved in the union — in ways large and small — out in front or behind the scenes.
Here are some:
  • Leadership training
  • Run for a position on the Board of Directors
  • Become a Steward
  • Lobby legislators in Salem and across the State
  • Become a Member Organizer
  • Write articles for your newsletter or website
  • Take photos or create images for your newsletter or website
  • Produce your newsletter or website
  • Train to write, take good photos, or produce a newsletter or website
  • Maintain the bulletin board
  • Design purple creations and fashion
  • Join a Community Action Center
  • Support a baseball team, bowling league, or other social group
  • Train to produce cable television programs
  • Join rallies
  • Participate in local and national political issues
  • Join your bargaining team
  • Support your bargaining team
  • Write a letter to the editor
  • Write your legislators
  • Help the union decide which candidates to endorse
