Vol 2, Issue 1
By Joe DiNicola, President, SEIU Local 503, OPEU
Happy New Year! Welcome to our second volume.
This first 2006 issue of President Joe's Journal celebrates some of the historic victories of union members over many decades. We have reason to be proud of our achievements, and we have the power to help bring even more success for workers in the future. Remember, what we have accomplished together in the past is only the beginning.

eNews Flash
Working Families Conference:
Join with SEIU Local 503, OPEU members January 28 at the Working Families Conference at the Doubletree Hotel across from the Lloyd Center in Portland. Ask your steward or local officers for details and be sure to sign up by January 23 to learn how we can continue to build power for workers all over Oregon in 2006.
DHS Action:
In late December, members at DHS gathered together to protest and send a message to management. The message is clear: "It's unfair to target workers with medical issues for termination!"
Grades for Legislators:
Check out how your legislators voted on key issues during the last session. The 2005 Legislative Accountability Report grades legislators' voting records on affordable healthcare, rights of workers and the loophole lobby.
