Aug 19, 5:30pm: Listening Session with DHS Director Pakseresht
We have made big gains in union, but we still have to fight for basic things and make sure DHS respects our contract. Problems like late pay or failing to start our retirement program on time are unacceptable. Please join other homecare workers for an online listening session with Fariborz Pakseresht, the Director of DHS, on August 19th. The listening session starts at 6pm, with a Zoom training at 5:30pm. Share your story with Director Pakseresht so that we can push for the basic protections that we deserve. Read more and register.

After State Delay, Retirement Plan for PSWs Begins in October
Personal Support workers may have noticed an additional $.77 raise on your July 30 paycheck. That’s because care providers on our Union’s bargaining team fought for and won a proposal to create a new retirement plan for care providers – the first of its kind in Oregon. After the State stalled on the implementation date, it appears they are now prepared to begin diverting those additional funds into your personal retirement plan. PSWs, you should notice this on your October 30 paychecks. Read More.

Since The First Case Of COVID, SEIU Members Have Pulled Together
The Oregon Health Authority announced our state’s first presumptive case of COVID-19 on February 28th, nearly 6 months ago. Life has not been the same since.
