We just learned that DHS missed a deadline and more than 7,000 homecare workers who are expecting a check tomorrow won’t see it until Wednesday, April 28. This will not impact PSWs.

We’ve seen this before. Unfortunately, it’s a pattern of disrespect from the people at the highest levels of DHS. And we have to keep pushing for reform because workers and consumers deserve a homecare program that works. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Send an email to DHS and Governor Kate Brown. You can do this even if you weren’t impacted by this latest error.
  2. Keep a record of any impact on you and let us know about it. If you get a late fee or an overdraft fee or anything like that, we need to know. In the past, we have been able to help get compensation from DHS for these things. Call us at 1-844-503-SEIU (7348) and we can help you document and take action.
  3. Get more people engaged in bargaining our new contract. We have a chance to fix these problems this year, when your member-elected bargaining team negotiates a new contract with DHS. Share this link with every homecare worker you know, because the more of us are active in the bargaining campaign, the stronger our negotiating position becomes.
