In an October vote of our General Council, delegates voted overwhelmingly to pass three measures:

1. Bring our bylaws into legal compliance by changing eligible past SEIU 503 presidents from voting to non-voting permanent delegates to General Council, and removing the Immediate Past President position from the list of officers;
2. Increasing representation on our Board and making the responsibilities of volunteer officer positions more manageable by splitting the role of Secretary-Treasurer into two officer positions (Secretary and Treasurer); and
3. Modernizing our Administrative Policies and Procedures (AP&Ps) to allow resolutions passed at General Council to be communicated by means other than a physical newsletter—for example, by email or website—saving the union tens of thousands of dollars.

These changes will go into immediate effect in our bylaws and AP&P.
