Our Proposals Are In—Now We Hold the Line
This week, your SEIU Local 503 Homecare Bargaining Team spent hours finalizing a full package of contract proposals—shaped directly by your voices and priorities. We delivered those proposals to the state management bargaining team with a clear message: homecare workers deserve better.
Top issues like pay increases and paid time off (PTO)—the priorities raised in our bargaining survey—led our demands.
Later in the day, state management returned with counter proposals, rejecting many of what we presented in the previous bargaining meeting. Rest assured, we will continue to push for fair compensation and the protections we deserve.
What’s Next? Our next bargaining session is scheduled for Tuesday, June 3rd. We will continue pushing forward, backed by the power of our union and the clear direction of our members. Go to our bargaining web page for the latest information.

Around Our Union: Stand in Solidarity with Addus Hospice Workers
The 20 courageous Addus Hospice workers who recently voted to unionize with SEIU Local 503 are now at the bargaining table, fighting for their first union contract. These caregivers provide vital end-of-life support to Oregon families, and they deserve respect, fair wages, and a voice on the job. By signing this petition, you’re standing in solidarity with them and showing that all SEIU 503 members support their efforts to win a strong contract that reflects the essential work they do.
Let’s show them they’re not alone—add your name today!
Get the Break You Deserve: How Carewell SEIU 503’s Paid Time Off Benefits You
In-home care providers work hard every day to support others—but who’s supporting you when you need time off? That’s where Carewell SEIU 503’s Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit comes in. Whether it’s for rest, recovery, or simply recharging, your PTO benefit ensures you can step away from work without losing income.
As part of your hard-earned benefits, eligible providers can access up to 48 hours of paid time off each year. That’s six full days to take care of your health, your family, or your well-being—without worrying about missing a paycheck. This benefit is just one of the many ways SEIU 503 fights for the rights and dignity of care providers across Oregon.
Don’t wait until you’re burned out to use what you’ve earned. Applying for PTO is quick and easy, and it’s designed to fit the realities of care work. Whether you need a mental health day, time to recover from illness, or a moment to handle personal responsibilities, your PTO is there for you.
