After months of negotiations, SEIU members at the Parry Center for Children have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, improving wages and ensuring that all Parry Center workers are paid $15 an hour by 2021. Some other highlights include:

  • 2 percent cost-of-living increase floor over the life of the contract
  • Improved starting pay for Skills Trainers
  • Maintained longevity increases for Non-Skills Trainers

Members at the Parry Center had been bargaining for close to six months participating in eight separate sessions, with almost ten percent of Parry Center workers attending the sessions around wages. Members were engaged throughout the entire bargaining process by stickering up at the workplace, collecting and composing over 100 postcards of support from colleagues and community members, and reaching out to fellow union members to flood their employer’s with phone calls of support.

This is a great start to the bargaining season, which runs through the summer and covers contracts for 90 percent of SEIU members.
