This past weekend, an armed man tried to kill former President Trump.

Our Union strongly condemns this attempted assassination. No level of political or ideological disagreement, no matter how strong, justifies the killing of another person or violence of any kind.

Already made-up conspiracies meant to divide us and create new doubts about each other are pushing aside facts as they come out. We are better than that.

There are trustworthy professional news organizations with professional journalists that are covering this story and will give progress on the investigations to get a clear picture of the truth.

We urge all Oregonians and all Americans to remain calm, refrain from jumping to conclusions and wait for the ongoing investigations to be completed. Law enforcement will do its job.
