We sincerely apologize for the photo included in an email  to state workers on Monday, July 14th about observing today’s bargaining session. The photo was inappropriate and does not reflect our union’s values of anti-racism, solidarity, respect, and equity for all workers.

The message went out without undergoing our proper review process – and we take full responsibility. We are reinforcing our communication review procedures to ensure this type of issue does not recur.

We are committed to fighting for dignity and respect for every member, and we regret that this mistake did not live up to that commitment.

We expect you to hold us accountable. As your union, our strength comes from our shared values—solidarity and the unwavering fight for equity for all workers.

Your feedback reminds us that our communications must always reflect these priorities. Together, we will continue to fight for the respect and justice every worker deserves.

In unity,

SEIU 503
