The results from Oregon’s May primary election are in, and candidates endorsed by SEIU Local 503 are celebrating victories across the state. Click here for the full list of results.

While most people focus their attention on the top of the ticket, down-ballot races in Oregon’s legislature, city councils and county commissions have a direct impact on our communities. Here are a few of the key results from those campaigns.

Teresa Alonso Leon
House District 22

Teresa is an SEIU member who works for the Department of Education. She has previously served as Woodburn City Councilor and will be a champion for working families in the Oregon House of Representatives if elected this fall.

Sally Cook
Salem City Council

Sally is an SEIU member who, as chair of the Citizen’s Police Review Board and member of the Library Advisory Board, has seen firsthand how the city has continually underfunded vital public services. Sally will fight for Salem and for her fellow SEIU members.

Cara Kaser
Salem City Council

Cara is a second-generation SEIU member in Salem. She has seen firsthand how important it is for public employees to stand together. That’s why Cara is ready to stand for SEIU members on the city council.
