Statewide

Secretary

Dear 503 Members, I am running for Statewide Secretary and I humbly ask for your vote. I bring diversity and thinking outside the box to the table. I pledge to listen to your needs and to advocate on your behalf. I’ve been a proud Union member since 2004 when I started my work for Oregon Department of Human Services in Beaverton Child Welfare as an Office Specialist 2. Since then, I held positions as a Human Services Case Manager and an Adult Protective Service Specialist in Tigard, Beaverton and Hillsboro. Currently, I work as a Translations Specialist/Russian language SME in the Equity Strategy Unit with Aging and People with Disabilities where I am also serving as a Union Steward and Chief CAT. With the Union’s training and support, we have been able to get a Selective salary increase for all Adult Protective Service Specialists statewide. During last bargaining session, where I served as a Human Services Coalition Co-Chair and Central Table Delegate at Large, we were able to secure multiple additional positions for Adult Protective Services to address an ever-growing workload. We also were able to get Pandemic Recognition Pay and expanded Telework. It was one of the best contracts in the history of our bargaining. Just recently, we were able to negotiate moving the 3.1% COLA from December 1 to August 1 so you will see it in your paychecks in September 2022. Prior to pandemic, I had the honor and the privilege of participating in the Member Leader Development Program (both New Employee Orientation and Bargaining Waves) and to travel to multiple agencies and worksites Statewide. I and my teammates signed up a lot of new members and CAPE contributors. The highlight was a New Employee Orientation we did in Corvallis where 75 new members joined SEIU! I saw the areas for improvement first-hand, and believe me, there are still many. I hope to be able to continue serving you as Statewide Secretary for the next biennium. We have our work cut out for us and together we can do it.

Respect, Equity, Union Jobs for Working Families!
