OLA! Hello Everyone in our great 503 SEIU UNION! I just wanted to say a few things regarding this election for OFFICE, and why I am running. There has been Great strides taken by our volunteer workers to get us where we are now, but I am concerned about the direction we are going in to get there for the present-future.Part of the problem is that there is a move to put one Local over another Local in the contract negotiations where I feel there should be open dialogue between workers whose Jobs specify “Skilled” Services and those whose Jobs specify “Professional” Services and How that affects us in negotiations. I feel that we need to interconnect with one another in a way that respects one another and that addresses the issues of pay and service. Without that open dialogue, we may be led to dissension among us as to the method of disregard for one another’s position, when in fact, we could utilize the need for a stronger unity in our contractual negotiations.
For example, we know that there is a shortage of nursing staff statewide, but to require skilled workers to be Licensed as “Skilled” professionals, is to create a situation where there would be conflict between the Nursing Professionals and the Care Providers that also do very skilled Services. With an open discussion between the two Locals as to How to create a Service Position that could benefit them both without the burden of dissension from lack of unity with one another, we can find a way to Build Back Better for ALL of US AND THE PEOPLE WE SERVE.
I would LOVE to be on the Serving Beginning of a present-future for All my Brothers and Sisters of our Powerful Member Lead Locals of SEIU 503 UNION, by sharing our dream of Working and Coming Together for the Greater Good Of Us All in the State of Oregon!
