Get More Involved in Your Union: Become a Union Steward
Together, we win great contracts for workers across the state! Now, we need to continue building union power and ensure our contracts are being implemented correctly by state management.
You can help make it happen by becoming a union steward. Stewards have a great responsibility: to organize their coworkers solve problems, educate others around the contract, and to investigate potential contract violations. You’ll help your co-workers deal with issues they are facing and work and enforce the contract through the grievance procedure.
Being a steward is exciting – and it keeps our union strong. Fill out the interest form below and we will have an experienced steward reach out and discuss the role with you and walk you through the next steps.
As a steward, you will never be alone as you learn the ropes and how to build union power at your workplace. We will provide training and support to help you every step of the way, a dedicated steward hotline to answer questions and access to a knowledge base of questions and answers you may encounter on the way.
Elections & Requirements of Stewards
Each local has their own process and procedure for electing stewards. You should contact a union leader in your worksite or your organizer to find out more about the process where you work.
If you are interested in becoming a steward, consider attending a steward training. Please contact your organizer for more information and to sign up for a training near you.
