Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the money from CAPE come from?

CAPE is funded almost entirely by monthly, voluntary contributions from our members. Members giving $5, $10, or $15 a month adds up and helps us make a big impact. Together, we’re able to have one of the largest PACs in the state and have been able to deliver big wins for our members year-after-year.

How does our union make political decisions?

The members of our CAPE Council provide a voice for working Oregonians by interviewing candidates, making recommendations for endorsements, and then working to get our endorsed candidates elected by phonebanking, canvassing, donating resources, and getting the word out to other SEIU 503 members. All endorsements are also approved by our Board of Directors.

What is the CAPE Council?

The CAPE Council is a governing body of member delegates elected by CAPE contributors. Members on CAPE come from every Senate District and represent a diversity of member voices across sectors, backgrounds, and political identities. CAPE delegates are elected for two-year terms. The most recent election took place in 2023. The next one will take place in 2025. If you are interested in running for CAPE in the future, let us know:
