Union stewards are the backbone of our union. As agents of the union, the stewards are members who support their coworkers through contract enforcement, organizing, and advocacy, and are the foundation of the union’s power in the workplace. Becoming a union steward is one of the most effective ways to become a union leader in your worksite, and so our Member Resource Center puts on Contract Enforcement Trainings across the state all year to train stewards on the skills necessary to become effective advocates.

These trainings include things like:

  • Organizing Your Worksite

  • Contract Interpretation

  • Writing Grievances

  • Meeting with Management

  • Utilizing the Member Resource Center and Grievance Database

We also cover a range of advanced issues, such as grievance investigations, arbitration preparation, and all the important tools you will need to fight for your rights.

Below is a preliminary list of Contract Enforcement Trainings that you can register for right now, and we will be adding more as soon as the registration forms are available. One thing to note is that some trainings are specific to the type of work you do, such as worksite based public employee positions or Homecare and Personal Support Worker specific trainings. Make sure to register for the training that is appropriate for your worksite and is in your area.
