In early August, Basin Transit Service (BTS) members in Klamath Falls ratified a new contract winning fair cost of living adjustments over each year of the agreement. But the biggest fight was over the lack of health care coverage for loved ones.

After weeks of being stalled at the bargaining table, BTS members began circulating a worksite petition and performing community outreach, gathering stories and making valuable allies within Klamath Falls. Months of hard bargaining paid off, and BTS is now paying 90% of spousal coverage (up from zero)!

By purpling up, establishing a strong presence at local board meetings, and staying strong together within and outside the workplace, BTS members were able to secure one of the strongest contracts they’ve seen in years.
