Time for PPS to settle a fair contract!

After 8 months of dragging their feet, PPS says they want to reach an agreement on a new contract this week. Show your support for living wages and safe and respectful working conditions by signing the PPS STRIKE PLEDGE and wearing purple this Wednesday and come to bargaining if you are able.

Next bargaining dates:
10/25 1-5pm PEC
10/26 1-5pm SEIU
10/27 1-5pm PEC

Teacher Strike Update

PPS should also give teachers a good contract now, so they won’t be forced to strike next week. If the teachers do strike: PAT has said “We hope our union family continues to be paid fairly and according to their regular duties. We believe non PAT members doing their regular duties is not crossing a picket line and therefore would like to collaborate on a pass through system for your members, non PAT union members, who must cross the PAT picket lines in order to report to work.” You can show support for teachers by wearing “working without a contract” buttons and joining their picket lines before or after work. PPS says that “custodians will be working their regularly scheduled hours” and “Work for NS will be similar to other days, in that teams may flex their hours based on the workload (ex – pizza days or other menu popular days may be busier than others). We plan to have everyone scheduled to work on what was a previously planned school day.  So even though we are only serving Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, the team would still report to work on Mondays for meetings, preparation for the week, cleaning, etc.  Fridays in November are not consistent.  We still plan to hold the training at Marshall on Friday, Nov 3 and Friday, Nov 10 is a holiday.”

Show your support! Join PAT at their rally and march this Saturday 10/28 at 9am at the PAT office: 345 NE 8th Ave, Portland, OR 97232. RSVP at this link.
