Statement from SEIU 503 Executive Director Melissa Unger and President Mike Powers on Ukraine:

The Russian government’s violent invasion of Ukraine is a gross violation of international law that is actively creating a historic humanitarian crisis. The intentional targeting of civilians has resulted in immeasurable suffering, thousands of deaths, and nearly 3 million people fleeing Ukraine. Working families in neighboring countries and around the world are taking the economic brunt of Putin’s unprovoked acts of war. We remain in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and supporters of peace around the world in calling for an immediate end to this aggression and much needed relief for those who have been impacted. Finally, we acknowledge the pain and fear our Russian and Ukrainian members are experiencing as this devastating situation continues to unfold.
