Anjelica Ceja

I have been privileged with helping as a steward at OSH, volunteering as a page at General Council in 2018 & this year I am an elected delegate. I am part of the CAPE Committee, along with being the co-chair region 5 of the CAPE Council, I am also on the Staff Screening Committee. I’ve accepted this nomination because I feel I bring a fresh perspective. There is a great divide among our Union. There are feelings of discontent among many members. I hope to build bridges of communication as well as share knowledge. There is power in knowledge & that knowledge should be shared with all our members. When our members are strong & supported then we as a union are stronger. I’m a firm believer that to truly grow, not only as individuals, but as a group need to better ourselves from within. I have seen our union make big improvements throughout the organization, from leadership development & accountability to promoting involvement of our members via our caucuses. I would like us as leaders & members to work on unity within our organization, continue to support the members we have, while helping resolve concerns with those who are on the verge of leaving. Outside of my state employment & union participation, I further help support public employees by serving on my town city council. I am part of a youth mentorship program, because out of today’s youth, come tomorrow’s leaders. In order to have a real impact, We must be united to have a voice where decisions are made. That is why I ran for city council. The reason I joined the CAPE Committee & Council, ran to be elected as a Delegate for the General Council, & continue to take part in leadership committees when I have the time & opportunity. My drive, passion and willing combination of my experiences in and outside of SEIU make a qualified candidate for Sector 05s’ Institutions Coalition position
