I’m choosing to run for the Board of Directors so that I can get the experience I need to help make lasting change throughout SEIU. I have spearheaded the formation of various Steward Meetings, was vice-chair of my Sublocal briefly, and take part on numerous LMC’s all in order to hear the issues of our members, and create lasting, positive changes to our work environment. I do this through the use of standardization in processes to create less confusion across districts, and consistently push for transparency in all things. I also encourage education on part of our members, it is through the education that we can self-advocate. It is through transparency and education that members will be able to feel confident in the union and start to feel like it is OURS as members, not a separate entity. We need to take charge of changes and issues we may have, as it is only through numbers, community, and communication that we exist as a union, and I intend to bring us together in this time of change.
