Ivonne Rivero

My name is Ivonne Rivero. I have been working as Homecare provider since 2015. I have 5 years on the job. The last two years, I have been working and learning about our union and the many benefits of being unionized. My passion for community building, for justice and equality are the main motivators for me seeking a post that would allow me to better understand how our union works, its protocols, its leadership. In these two years, I had the privilege of being selected as one of the MLDP Caucus 2020, in representation of the Latinx Caucus, of being part of one of the Work Groups crafting policy for this year’s GC, of being elected to attend this year’s General Council. Shortly after the end of my MLDP training, I was elected to the be Co-Chair of the Latinx Caucus and I am a Co-Treasurer of the WOCC (Women of Color Caucus.) Through my work with the MLDP, I was able to better understand the lives and needs of our members, and to see how the geographical area plays a role in the work we do, in the quality of life for our families. The challenges ahead require the work and vision of people who understand the present moment, the task at hand, the populations of Oregon and its workers, as diverse as they are. I am seeking for the opportunity to better understand the work of our union, to improve participation and engagement of our union members, and to improve access through language justice. I am asking for your VOTE so I can be an integral part of our union, so I can learn about our Board of Directors’ work, and ultimately, so I can continue doing the work already done, now at the service and information of the Board of Directors.
