Current Activity: Assistant Director, Region 1; President, Justice Sub-Local 137; Chief Steward; Steward; 2 Labor Management Committees; NEO presentations; Bargaining Delegate; General Council Delegate; CAPE contributor Prior activities: Board Assistant Director 2004-2006; Board Director 2014-2018, Women’s Council, LERC ULEAD Graduate In the last two years, I have seen some amazing changes at SEIU that positively affect the members! I want to continue to see SEIU use current technology to assist you, the members and leaders, to be informed and have a stronger connection to our union, to our activities, and to our labor and community partners. My goals are to continue to support our Directors and the members, and be your voice at the table, regardless of who you are. My goals for Region 1 area include increasing membership, helping find better ways to get training for stewards, and support in your contract fights. I believe that a strong and informed membership is key to keeping a strong union. I see the continual attacks on union rights and benefits by groups like the Freedom Foundation/Opt-Out whose only goals are to bust unions by spreading misinformation and bombarding members by a variety of means to get them to drop their membership. Informed members know these are attacks on unions in order to destroy our voices in our workplaces. We are also facing huge budget shortfalls and will need to gear up to win good contracts in all sectors. I see this tied into the membership goals our union has, as the more members we have, the stronger we are, and that helps us win. I spend much of my free time on activities at home and with my family. Otherwise, my union family keeps me busy and I enjoy every minute of it. I believe in considering the needs of the membership when making decisions. I represent YOU, the member, and not just my own views. When I speak or vote, I am your voice. When you elect me as Assistant Director at SEIU, you can rest assured that I will consider all aspects of our membership, and represent you to the best of my ability. I respect our members and I want to continue to serve you on the Board of Directors.
