Maria Quero

My name is Maria Quero and I have been working as a Personal Support Worker for about 6 years in Roseburg Oregon. It is an honor to be nominated for a position of assistant director of the board of directors of region 3. It will be an amazing personal opportunity to grow as an active part of this important organization for all of us. As a single mother, I recognize the effort of immigrant workers and having a union that works and represents all of us. During my time as a PSW, I have been involved in my union by attending regional worker meetings and have been long involved in Roseburg community work. I was part of the UCAN Board of Directors, and was a part of the leadership program of Ford Family Foundation and have the skillset to sit on the board. I was also part of the efforts to bring together Spanish speaking union workers and community members together to learn about their benefits, voter education, and speaking on topics of bargaining and civil rights such as immigration. One of my goals is to be critical of the ways that we can continue to make sure all of our members understand the resources of their union and provide information to the members by being the bridge between members and their union. I am looking forward to working with a responsible effort for the purposes and principles of the union.
