Erin Selvey

I have been honored to serve you and our union as the Region 2 Director on the SEIU 503 Board of Directors for the past two years. A great deal of important work has come out of the current Board, including a 5-year Strategic Plan, a new Portland Headquarters, and several disaster relief funds that served members during difficult times. I would love to continue participating in that work for a second term as your Region 2 director! In my day job I am the Senior Court Clerk for the City of Springfield, but I have also dedicated myself to our union’s cause and have served in many different capacities over my 11+ years as a Local Government employee. I am currently serving as the Chief Steward of Local 995 and as the Chair of the Statewide Member Representation Committee. I have previously served as President and as Vice-President of my local, have sat on three Bargaining Teams, and participated in CAPE Region 4 Candidate interviews. This year I will be attending my fourth General Council and look forward to participating in the important task of governing OUR UNION! I believe in equity and fairness. Every member deserves to be treated with dignity and have ample opportunities for their voices to be heard. The current pandemic crisis has proven what we have long argued as a union; that heath care inequality and below-market wages are two of the most pressing issues, not just for our members, but for workers everywhere. Everyone deserves the dignity of being able to earn a living wage for the labor they perform and be safe on the job! Health care should be considered a right, as it is in so many other nations around the world, and we should strive to make sure no one is without medical coverage. As a new mother, I also see first-hand how the child-care crisis could easily cripple our economy. We have much work to do in these areas to ensure the livelihoods of all SEIU represented workers. I look forward to further serving you, serving the cause of worker’s rights, and building the strength of labor as a member of the Local 503 Board of Directors!
