Over the last two years being on the Board has been interesting, inspiring and empowering. Region 2 has a variety of members from state-funded jobs. We all come from different walks of life, different cultures and are at different Social-economic levels. There are several things we have in common: hard work, fair pay, and the belief that everyone deserves to reach their full potential while in their productive years working. As Region 2 Director over past two years and also as a member of the Higher Education Bargaining team, this has been a very challenging two years. Higher Ed almost went out on strike but the team held firm on our demands. This enabled us to get the best contract we have received in the last 10 years. Being on the Board has enabled me to fight to dis-invest the Union’s funds from for-profit prisons and express the perspective view point of from a person of color. I feel I have made a difference while serving on the Board in helping to advance issues that are important to our membership. Please vote for me to serve 2 more years as your Regional Director Representative on the Board.
