Stacy Heath

Hi, my name is Stacy. I’ve been a home caregiver and a union member for 7 years. I’m currently Vice President SEIU 503 Local 98. As a bargaining unit member, we won a hard and rewarding contract in 2019, one of the best contracts Addus has seen. I co-facilitate biweekly meetings with leadership officers, to help develop each other’s leadership skills, discuss how to reach and represent members, and their issues and identify possible work environment issues. I have led CAT for a better work environment, mental health, and better wages and alongside our local SEIU President, we led a community action. I attend monthly labor-management meetings, communicating issues, concerns, thoughts, and suggestions from caregivers in the field. In our meetings, we strategize about the next steps to collaborate on how to make a better work environment for every caregiver. I’m overly passionate and genuinely care about people’s health and wellbeing so while in office I would like to address mental health, ongoing training specifically Alzheimer’s, equity, and communication barriers. I started serving in my community when I moved here in 2001 as a greeter at my local church, hospitality committee, church choir, Sunday school teacher, and Out Reach Team member and then Out Reach Team President serving food to the homeless monthly, visiting the sick in the hospital and at home, preparing meals for those sick at home, Eugene Missions monthly visits with the woman and children singing and sharing encouraging words and doing craft projects with the children. I monthly shared, did crafts, and helped facilitate to get diapers, wipes, etc for infants and toddlers at a women’s addiction recovery house. I delivered and served Thanksgiving and Christmas meals to those in need for 15 years. I’ve been involved in community events with the Alzheimer’s Association and Sex Trafficking Children Organization. The passion that I have for my community is the same passion I have for my fellow caregivers and my goal is for you to be heard, listened to, and acknowledged. As union members, we have to unite together in unity because we are stronger when we support one another. My commitment to you is to fulfill my leadership obligations to the best of my ability but I can’t do it without each one of you because united we stand and together we will rise.
