View Your Union’s Endorsements and Get Out the Vote!

The November 3rd General Election is Tuesday, and there’s a lot on the line for SEIU 503 members. Historic federal spending cuts to pay for tax breaks for billionaires could mean budget reductions for our state and local governments. We need to make sure working families are centered in these difficult decisions, and that means electing people who share our values and will fight for us, starting with re-electing Governor Tina Kotek!

You can view a complete list of your union’s endorsements here.

Oregon was the first state to use vote-by-mail, giving people access to democracy no matter where they live or what their schedule is. For over 25 years, vote-by-mail has been the gold standard for convenient and transparent elections. Nothing about that has changed this year, except the mail might be a little slower than usual due to budget cuts at the United States Postal Service. Because it’s after October 27: To make sure your vote is counted, we recommend you place your ballot in an official ballot drop box. You can find your closest ballot drop box here.

As a reminder, SEIU 503 and our sister local SEIU 49 make up the SEIU Oregon State Council. Our political endorsements are done in partnership between both locals, with members of each local having the final say on each endorsement. Endorsements are member-led through a transparent process that includes the CAPE Council and both Boards of Directors.

There’s still time to get involved! You can sign up for a GOTV canvassing or phonebank shift here.

In Oregon’s last gubernatorial election in 2022, 64.8% of SEIU members who were registered to vote voted, which was 6.3% above the general public. Let’s keep that trend going, because when we vote, we win!
