Our bargaining team met on January 4th and January 11th in hopes of having productive conversations around wages. We are very disappointed by Dakavia’s proposals and that are not making the progress we had hoped for. When we met on January 4th, we proposed a new wage scale and increases to bring our Myrtle Point facility to the same union standards of what other union facilities across the state have recently won. These are the same standards we have reached with other alliance employers and believe workers at Dakavia Myrtle Point are deserving of a fair raise. Unfortunately, Dakavia has taken a different position, rejecting our proposal, and has instead proposed a wage scale that would do little to equitably honor workers across the scale. We have been listening to member concerns and do not believe that management’s reasons are legitimate enough to justify their rejection of our wage proposal.
We demand that our facility is held to the same statewide union standards. While Myrtle Point is a small facility, we are also a huge contributor to our community and we know that raising our standards will also raise the quality of care we provide for our residents.
We are working on setting up our next bargaining session. We are asking everyone to stand together and organize! Please contact your bargaining delegate or union representative for specific details on upcoming actions.
