Help Fix Oregon’s Care Industry

Our Union’s top priority bill for the legislative session, HB 3838 (Home and Community-based Care Workforce Standards Board), needs your help! The bill would establish a workforce standards board for Oregon’s long-term care industry, which will create statewide standards for pay, training, and staffing. An Update to Carewell Benefits Eligibility Rules

An important update to the Carewell benefits eligibility rules takes effect on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Starting October 1, care providers must consistently work at least 40 bargaining unit hours per month to keep their benefits.

To stay eligible, you must work 40 hours or more for two consecutive months. If you work fewer than 40 hours for two consecutive months, your benefits will end the following month.

For example, if you work less than 40 hours in October, but you work 40 hours or more in November, you will maintain benefits eligibility. However, if you work less than 40 hours in October and work less than 40 hours in November, you would lose benefits eligibility as of January 1, 2026.

May Day Rally

Join us on Thursday, May 1st, 2025, as we gather in Salem at the Capitol Steps to stand in solidarity for worker’s rights and demand an end to mass deportations.

Together, we stand united in the fight for justice and the rights that immigrant working families have long been denied. As a union, we stand in unwavering solidarity with immigrant workers, affirming their dignity and vital contributions. Together, we will support one another, build collective power, and ensure immigrant justice remains a core value in our fight for fairness and equality. Register here

Connect With Others Through Regional Provider Meetings

Regional care provider monthly meetings are more important than ever. As the current federal administration continues to attack workers’ rights and the care infrastructure we depend on, staying informed and united is critical. These meetings are a space to share updates, get support, and build power together. Don’t miss out—connect with your fellow care workers and stay strong in the face of these challenges. To find a meeting near you, keep checking the SEIU 503 online events calendar!
