In our conversations with care providers, we’ve heard a lot of you say that out-of-pocket costs are often a barrier to getting dental care or vision services. We heard you, and we’re introducing improvements to your dental and vision benefits that will make those services more affordable for the rest of this year.
Now is the time to get new glasses or contacts!
Effective August 1, 2021, your vision plan is resetting and the allowance for frames and contacts goes up from $250 to $500. This means that between August 1 and December 31, 2021, you can get an eye exam and new lenses fully covered, and you get a whole new $500 to spend on eyewear! This is true even if you’ve recently had an eye exam or got new glasses or contacts and used up your $250 allowance.
On January 1, 2022, this benefit will reset again so you’ll get a whole new $500 benefit maximum for frames and contacts, for the next 24 months. All the frequencies will reset on January 1, 2022 to 12 months for exams, 24 months for lenses and frames.

Sign up for the dental out-of-pocket reimbursement program!
This benefit will provide reimbursement for any out-of-pocket expenses (coinsurance and copays) for services covered under your 2021 Kaiser Dental plan, up to the Kaiser plan maximum of $2,500.
This benefit is available for covered expenses incurred from January 1, 2021, through December 31, 2021, or until the designated funds for this benefit have been spent, whichever happens first. As of early August, over $186,000 have been paid out to almost 450 care providers, for an average reimbursement of $422.
To receive reimbursements for your out-of-pocket dental expenses, you need to submit the Dental Out-of-Pocket Reimbursement Program enrollment form. You can find that form and more information about this program at CarewellSEIU503.org/2021-dental-benefit.
