Our first bargaining session took place last Thursday and Friday, setting the foundation for a tough fight with administration. We exchanged lists with management of different parts of our contract we’ve chosen to renegotiate, including salary, and agreed to meet again at the University of Oregon on October 26th and 27th.

Our proposals include adding Indigenous Peoples’ Day and a floating holiday, among other improvements to time off. Both sides will be giving full proposals to each other by the end of the month. During our 2021 negotiations, we locked in health insurance and steps until July 2026, but in this reopener, we need to make sure our wages catch up with inflation and classified workers get the respect we deserve.

Winning a good contract is going to take a lot. Above all else, it will take unity – classified workers at all 7 universities sticking together. You can do your part by signing our bargaining petition today. If you’ve already signed, great! Let’s make sure every one of our coworkers signs, too. Thousands of us standing together have power, and we’ll need all the strength we can to win a good contract.

As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to your campus bargaining delegate, steward, CAT, or organizer. Check our website and Facebook Group for updates. Bargaining is officially underway and we all need to work together to win the contract we deserve.
