Homecare & Personal Support Workers are Getting a Raise!
Because of our collective action in 2023 we were able to win a historic contract for homecare and personal support workers that includes meaningful pay raises and pay for some holidays worked. Coming up in January, workers will get another cost-of-living raise of 50 cents per hour.
Additionally, the Department of Human Services will review your hours worked over the past 18 months to see if you qualify for the additional pay scale increase – caregivers who have worked at least 2,000 hours within that 18-month period may be eligible for an additional raise of $1 per hour on top of the cost of living raise. Not sure how it works? This video explains it!
If you have any questions contact your union organizer or call the SEIU 503 Member Assistance Center at 1.844.503.SEIU (7348).
Have You Completed Your Bargaining Survey Yet?
Thousands of in-home care providers are gearing up to bargain our next Union contract with the state of Oregon in 2025.
We’re fighting to raise wages, protect healthcare, boost worker protections, and strengthen long-term care for both care providers and the people we serve.
Our elected SEIU 503 bargaining team wants to hear from YOU! In early December bargaining surveys were emailed to all eligible homecare and personal support members. As SEIU members, it’s our right and responsibility to share what’s important to us and our families in the work we do.
Be sure you go online and complete your personalized survey. By doing so, you’ll help set our priorities for our next contract and support our work for better homecare services and good Union jobs. Together, we can make a real difference! If you did not receive your survey via email or text message, please reach out to your SEIU 503 organizer, or call our Member Assistance Center at 1.844.503.SEIU (7348).

Don’t Forget Your 2024 Political Tax Credit!
Working people like us, giving $8 or $10 each month to our Union’s Citizen Action for Political Education (CAPE) helps us compete against corporations and billionaires trying to buy elections. When you make a voluntary contribution to CAPE, you help elect pro-worker candidates to office – and your contribution may qualify for the Oregon Political Tax Credit.
Eligible Oregonians can get a $50 tax credit ($100 for couples filing jointly) if you donate to a qualified political group, including CAPE. You must: (1) Be an Oregon resident; (2) Submit an Oregon tax return for 2024; and (3) Make less than $75,000 (individual) or $150,000 (couple filing jointly). This tax credit only applies to contributions made in 2024, so make sure to use yours before it expires.
If you are not yet part of CAPE, join today!
Around Our Union…
Nursing home workers won big in a tough campaign, navigating bargaining across six tables in a challenging environment. With 60+ bargaining delegates, more than 150 shop floor actions – and at one facility, a 98% strike vote – members pushed for change through unity and action: these included informational pickets and strike preparations covered by local media outlets. These efforts resulted in strong settlements across all companies.
Key wins include a new healthcare benefit providing affordable coverage for hundreds of workers, tens of thousands of dollars in retroactive pay increases, and safe staffing protections across all employers. Contracts ranging from one to four years reflect these hard-fought improvements, marking a milestone in the fight for better conditions and fair treatment for workers.
