After eight months of negotiations, members of SEIU 503 Jackson County Employees Association (JCEA) came together with county management and reached a tentative agreement on Monday, October 10th around 10pm. After continuous actions, weekly rallies at Alba Park, worksite visits and months of working without a contract, SEIU 503 JCEA’s bargaining team reached a fair contract.

Jackson County rally smallMembers of SEIU 503 JCEA keep the Rogue Valley Airport running, Jackson County’s roads safe and clear, manage county finances, and provide health and human services to those in need. This contract will help employees move forward and build a stronger workplace by increasing yearly health care coverage and building guaranteed yearly cost of living adjustments throughout the course of the three-year contract. Members voted overwhelmingly to ratify the contract on Monday, October 17th, putting the terms outlined below immediately into place.

Language

  • Stewards are allowed the use of County computer to file grievances during work hours.
  • Oregon Family Leave Act language has been added to the contract to ensure that the County continues to pay towards insurance premiums.
  • Clothing allowance can be used to repair or resole work boots.
  • Ability to sign up members electronically.
  • Yearly increases in health care coverage.
