Through the hard work of our Membership, Central Table Bargaining Team, Central Table Support Staff, and many others, we are happy to announce that the 2017 Economic Reopener for SEIU 503 members working for the State of Oregon has been ratified by an overwhelming YES vote. Over the next two years, this agreement ensures that state workers will:
- Receive regular annual step increases (which we agreed to in the four year contract and didn’t give up);
- Maintain our current healthcare premium share rate of:
- 1% on the lowest costing health plan;
- 5% on the costlier health plans;
- Receive a cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) of 1.85 percent on 06/15/18, despite management’s claim that there was no money;
- Establish a wage floor of $2,600 per month so that our lowest paid state workers are provided a living wage;
- Receive increased shift differentials, a new multilingual differential, and other increase for specific classifications.
State workers elected to ratify this Economic Reopener to the Collective Bargaining Agreement with 95 percent of the vote! The worksite and regional actions you participated in, the petitions you signed, and the number of times you met with legislators at Lobby Days made the difference between the paltry offer management came to the table with, and the final agreement our team won. Everyone is to be congratulated on showing State management that SEIU 503 is indeed Union Strong.
