Our thoughts are with the families and friends of murder victims Taliesin Namkai-Meche, Ricky John Best, and survivor Micah David-Cole Fletcher, all three of whom intervened when two young women of color were the target of racist harassment. Their murder and assault at Portland’s MAX train last week is a tragic reminder of the intensified incidents of hate, school bullying and threats of violence that immigrants, refugees, Muslims, LGBTQ people and communities of color are experiencing and the consequences for us all as we work to create a safe and equitable world.

It’s vital that we unite together in our ongoing work to create a just and vibrant society, with dignity and respect for all.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Please consider making a contribution to the victims and survivors of this attack:

Additionally, community members in Portland will be holding a Rally Against Fascism on Sunday, June 4th across from City Hall at 12:30pm. Now is the time to unite against bigotry and hate.

We encourage each and every one of our members to speak out publicly to help create the strong, safe communities we all need. Click here to download a sign to post in your home or workplace in solidarity with targeted communities and to stand for compassion for all.
