Tentative Agreement at Avalon!

The Nursing Home Council bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement with Avalon! When ratified by the membership, this contract sets one of the highest standards in the nation for wages, offers a real path to better healthcare, and recognizes the value and dignity of ALL employees.

Highlights of our Tentative Agreement

Wages

  • A single statewide wage scale
  • An $18.25 per hour wage floor, with CNA wages that top out at $24.53 ($27.42 for CMAs)
  • Placing workers on the new wage scales based on year of experience in a given job class
  • Raises in 2022 and 2023 based on Medicaid rates
  • Shift differentials .50 Eve / .75 NOC (sets minimums)

Voice at work

  • Creation of a statewide labor management committee, which allows issues to be worked out above the administrator level, not just during bargaining

Healthcare

  • In 2022 we will have a healthcare re-opener. Our bargaining team’s goal is for Avalon to join the statewide Oregon Long Term Care Health Insurance Trust, which would provide quality insurance that works for workers

Next Steps

Our Union is a democratically-run organization and our tentative agreement will not take effect until a majority of EmpRes workers vote to approve it. We will hold a Tentative Agreement Review zoom meeting to answer questions (See information below) Also voting will happen online starting October 10th – October 14th. If you miss online voting there will be on-site voting happening on the days listed below during morning and afternoon shift change.
