Tentative Agreement at Dakavia!
Thanks to all our solidarity at all three union Dakavia nursing homes, our bargaining reached a tentative agreement with Dakavia! Once ratified by membership, this contract will set one of the highest standards in Oregon for nursing home wages, offer a real path to better healthcare, and keep our union united and strong.
Highlights of our Tentative Agreement
Wages
- Longevity bonuses from $100 to $2,000
1st Anniversary: $100
2nd Anniversary: $200
3rd Anniversary: $300
5th Anniversary: $500
8th Anniversary: $800
9th Anniversary: $900
10th Anniversary: $1000
15th Anniversary: 1500
20th Anniversary: $2000 - Extra shift bonus increases from $45 to $50
- Guaranteed raises in years 2 and 3 of the contract
- Placing workers on the new scales based on years of experience in a job class or date of licensure
- One wage scale for all three facilities
Voice at work
- Creation of a statewide labor management committee, which allows issues to be worked out above the administrator level, not just during bargaining
Healthcare
- Dakavia agreed to join a new statewide Oregon Long Term Care Healthcare Trust, providing quality insurance that work for workers starting 2022.
- New COVID-19 vaccine mandate and booster protections, with 10 hours of bonus time to recover from vaccine or booster side effects.
Improved contract language
- Improved work schedule protections

- Extra paid personal day
- Paid day off for anyone who becomes a US citizen

Next Steps
Our Union is a democratically-run organization and our tentative agreement will not take effect until a majority of Dakavia workers vote to approve it. Voting will happen onsite next week at all shift changes – stay tuned for more details.
