Hatfield, Ancient – State APD: Candidate for Assistant Director

Colleagues in the cause,

This is Ancient. I am requesting your vote for Sector 8, Homecare Assistant Director.

I am a homecare worker. Like many in this field, I have been a caregiver my whole life. It's not just what we do; it's who we are. We're out here making an impact everyday, by showing up with sincere care.

As a member of SEIU, I have been a consistent participant in the political and social justice aspects of progress. I've attended lobby days, met with our state representatives, submitted testimony during legislative hearings, participated in General Council and gathered valuable information at Labor Notes. I'm a member of the Contract Action Team, a graduate of the Member Leadership Development Program, I facilitate a monthly peer wellness group and am currently a Regional Director in Southern Oregon.

I recently co-wrote a resolution calling for functional and immediate cross-sector communication. The purpose being tangible, cross-sector solidarity. I am thrilled to announce this resolution was passed by the SEIU503 Board. This will be an avenue of even greater support throughout the locals.

I passionately believe the power of the people is an unstoppable force. Together we make all progress not only possible; we make it a reality.

I recognize the magnitude of this opportunity to represent Oregon homecare professionals as a board member. I will continue to keep focused on protecting and strengthening our contract, empowering member involvement, identifying and putting into action what best serves the people that make up this collective of essential workers. This means listening to you.

This union is OUR union. It is what we make it. We make it the champion of workers' rights that it is. We are the power of the people proclaimed and demonstrated.

I hope to earn your trust and represent you as Sector 8, Assistant Director.

I am grateful to show up with you, as we teach the world to lead with care.
