Howells, Sienna – DHS: Candidate for Assistant Director

Hello fellow union members. My name is Sienna and I’m running for Assistant Director in Region 6. Currently I'm in my 2nd term as a part of Sublocal 201 leadership. I am an active LMC member, Steward, and CAT. These roles and my position as a permanency caseworker in ODHS CW has helped me develop relationships with SEIU503 members within and beyond Sublocal201. In my time with SEIU503, I have worked in D1, D16, and D2 partnering interdepartmentally and within the community to create better work experiences. I am determined to elevate the concerns and desires of the people I represent.

In the next 2 years, I am working to be a contract specialist, which will mean I will have more time to work diligently for SEIU503. Whether elected to Assistant Director position or not, my intention is to focus on expanding union influence, connections to community, and increasing engagement by our members. If chosen by you, I will continue my efforts to give our region a strong voice.

By developing a strong structure for communication within our membership, I will work to coordinate our region on activities that will strengthen our connection to each other and community. A membership that is empowered to be mobilized for local and state matter is essential. With connection and unity SEIU503 will have the ability to prevail on actions when it comes to the upcoming challenges of bargaining our contracts and improving worker safety.
