Lamar, Kathleen – Dept of Justice: Candidate for Director

I am running for Director of Specials Coalition because you have a voice when it comes to decisions at the top level. My 25 years of experience representing members in various capacities shows my dedication and passion for leadership and equity. I am a Specials bargaining delegate of 16 years, have served on Central Table, and represent members of Specials at the Board of Directors. I’m a Lead Steward, current Chair of the Stewards Committee, and serve as the Vice President at DOJ as well as on two Labor Management Committees. I represent members regardless of their differences, including political affiliation. When I vote, I do it with integrity and transparency, representing every voice. I vote based on the effect decisions have on members of Specials Coalition. I may be part of the “old guard” but experience is also needed in discussions on current issues, including equality, equity, and advancement of member voices. Fiscal decisions are made with an informed, thoughtful approach, and I represent you, the member.
My goal as Director is to establish a better communication track with the members I represent so I can give you more updates on what is happening around the coalition and in SEIU.
