Brothers, Sisters, and Siblings of SEIU 503,
I am running for Sector 5 Director because our institution workers deserve a bold, visible leader who actively champions real change, equality, and unyielding solidarity. Our workplaces; especially at the Oregon State Hospital workers are facing complex challenges that require a deep commitment to fair labor practices and a clear understanding of how our diverse identities intersect on the shop floor.
True equity isn't just a talking point; it must be built into our daily operations. In our unique, high-stress environments, a workplace safety issue or a contract violation is never just administrative it impacts our dignity, well-being, and professional lives.
I don't just talk about these values; I fight for them every single day. My leadership experience within our union has prepared me to hit the ground running as your Sector 5 Director. I currently serve our membership as:
– Sub local 392 Chief Steward, directly defending worker rights and ensuring management upholds our contract. As well as an active Steward for 6 years
– Co-Coordinator for the Lavender Caucus, organizing to protect and uplift our LGBTQIAS+ members and ensure our union framework remains fundamentally intersectional.
– General Council Delegate, actively shaping the broader legislative and structural priorities of SEIU 503.
– SEIU Member leader development program recipient working out of class during the summer of 2025learning to organize and engage with our members
– SEIU international Western Region Lavender Caucus board member
– Prior organizing, outreach, bargaining, and Steward work with AFSME
As your Director, I will bring this same multi-layered advocacy to the Board. I will stand firm against unfair labor practices, fight for transparency, and ensure that our diverse voices are not just heard, but are driving the agenda. Together, we can push for systemic changes that create a safer, more equitable, and deeply respectful workplace for every single member in our sector.
