Otey, Erin – Volare: Candidate for Assistant Director

My name is Erin Otey and I have been an LPN working in Nursing homes the last 12 years. I helped to lead the LPN's to organize into the Union through Avamere nearly 5 years ago. I was on the barganing committe to win a fair contract twice. I have been a trained Union Steward in each building I work, and an active Union member for 3 years. I advocate for the workers rights, a safe workplace, safe staffing and fair pay. I hope to be an important member of the board for making decisions and upholding policies. I think there's issues that will always exist between employees and employers : discipline,pay, staffing, equiptment, safety, policies and in all of these things I am here to facilitate accountability to the company and managers responsible. Through compassionate respectfull positive communication and collaboration, real changes can be made. I love working my night shifts with a bow in my hair and a smile on my face I bring comfort to my Patients and their families. My passion is to care for people and this extends to all my Union Brothers and Sisters!
