Williams, Regena – State APD: Candidate for Director

Greetings:

My name is Ms. Regena Williams, aka Queen. My pronouns are she/her. I am originally from NW Tennessee, a little small town called McKenzie. Everyone knew you and we all worked together.

I started with Multnomah County Aging and Disability in 2017 as a Home Care Provider. I actually had been a care provider through the goodness of my heart for so many years for so many seniors through churches and my grandmother’s friends, I truly didn’t think of getting compensated at those times but doing the will of God from my heart. In all due respect, another nation of love and every positive descriptive adjective of human lives and how I was going to be a vital part in the process was born. I accepted with such honor to become a vital part of caring for someone and their well-being on this earth. Those seeds that were planted were fully sprouted now and becoming an interval part of my DNA.

Last but not the least, I am a graduate of the Member Leadership Development Program 2023. There, I was successful in growing District 1 Contract Action Team, increasing membership at NEOs, bringing the SEIU vision to the community, and bringing the community back into our union. Prior to my participation in MLDP, I have attended Lobby days and rallies in Salem, several speak outs within the district, setting aside time for phone banks, and attending CAT meetings.

I would like to accomplish more engagement within the district by uniting the church sectors and neighborhoods associations back together, of which has been accomplished by holding neighborhood meetings in libraries, members homes and residential facilities of care providers. Having a more visual onset of our union in these sectors will bring a mind shift of togetherness. I am striving to change the old negative talk of the union from the non-members and even members, to where that is taken over with positive energy, affirmations of goodness being spoken about the drive, the work, the success that our union as a whole has accomplished and striving to maintain in doing.

I am well-rounded in a lot of areas and this area in particular, being a Homecare Council Director District 1, Region 6 Multnomah County is an area that best fits my DNA. I will strive to do my best because one day I would like to feel appreciated that someone would
