Protecting Medicaid
Congress is considering significant cuts to Medicaid to pay for trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the rich that would impact our members, the people we serve, and the state budget. SEIU 503 members are calling members of Congress and rallying across Oregon to send a clear message: Hands off Medicaid!
Medicaid pays for workers who care for the most vulnerable people in our communities: our loved ones in hospitals, nursing homes, and in-home care. Medicaid also funds the jobs of public service workers who provide social services, benefits services, education services and more.
Our nation is already facing a healthcare staffing crisis – slashing the funding for nursing home workers, home care providers, and hospital workers will make this crisis worse.
Federal Medicaid dollars are critical to Oregon, funding nearly 30% of the state’s budget. This money pays for the services that keep communities running such as special education, K-12 programs, in-home care for seniors and people with disabilities, and mental health services.
These cuts would impact everyone, and we need to show Washington, D.C. that Oregon cares about healthcare. Take action today.
