This week your member-elected bargaining team had their second meeting with the State. At the negotiating table, workers discussed several key issues, including the new provider time capture system that the state intends to roll out this summer. Workers also made proposals to improve the registry, strengthen the grievance process, and put non-discrimination language into the contract.
The key negotiations over wages, hazard pay, benefits and other issues that carry costs will happen later this summer. Right now, your member-elected bargaining team is pushing the state to provide information on how much raises and other economic changes will cost, a key piece of information that we need to make sure workers get the best raise possible. Right now, the state is dragging its feet, but the team will continue pushing for this critical information so we can stay on schedule.
The funding for our contract is determined by the State Legislature, so the best thing you can do to support your bargaining team is to write your legislators and ask them to prioritize homecare and personal support workers when finalizing this year’s budget.

Cuando los trabajadores negocian un nuevo contrato con el Estado, tenemos la oportunidad de aumentar los salarios, proteger las horas de los consumidores y luchar por cambios en el DHS que nos permite cuidar mejor a las personas mayores y personas con discapacidades. Esta semana, su equipo de negociación, quien es elegido por los miembros, tuvo su segunda reunión con el Estado. En la mesa de negociaciones, los trabajadores discutieron varios temas clave, como el nuevo sistema de captura de tiempo del proveedor (PTC) que el estado tiene la intención de implementar este verano. Los trabajadores también hicieron propuestas para mejorar el registro de entrenamientos, esforzar el sistema formal para presentar quejas contra el estado, y poner un lenguaje de no discriminación en el trabajo.
Todavía tenemos que presentar temas claves en la mesa de negociación donde cubriremos salarios, pago de emergencia, beneficios y otros temas que conllevan costos económicos que se llevarán a cabo a finales de este verano.
En este momento, estamos presionando al estado para que no dé información sobre cuánto costarán los aumentos de salario.
