Earlier this year, the State Legislature passed SB 1049, which made cuts to public employee retirement plans. In August, SEIU member Rosanne Scott and nine other public employees filed a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the bill on the grounds that it constitutes “a taking without just compensation, and a breach of public employees’ PERS contract rights.”
The law firm representing us in the case, Bennett Hartman, has posted a page on their website to help keep you up to date on the latest news. Litigation of this nature is a long process. SEIU 503 will proactively share updates as they occur.
