Strong member representation is the foundation of our Union. So when we surveyed SEIU 503 members and found that people struggled to call their union and get an answer on the first call, we knew we needed to do better. That’s why we launched the Member Assistance Center (The MAC!) in 2019.
The MAC is a call center located in Portland with 22 Member Assistance Representatives who are standing by to take your call, and help you get an answer on the first try – or at least put you in touch with the right person.

MAC hours are 8 to 6, M-F, with some holiday closures.
Prior to 2019, our Union never had this capacity. But today SEIU 503 members are able to get in touch with an organizer, our benefits department or a Steward when they need to.
Since its launch in October, The MAC has taken 11,758 calls from people represented by SEIU 503. We have representatives who speak 10 different languages and the ability to take calls in other languages as well.
In addition to building capacity for our Union, The MAC is unique in that the representatives who work there are represented by their own union, making our call center one of the few union call centers in America.
